Build a hopper-fed smeltery and race 1 furnace against 3.
The kingdom needs glass, and it needs it NOW. Race a hopper-powered smeltery against one lone furnace.

What you’ll build
Build a smeltery where hoppers feed items and fuel into furnaces automatically. Race one furnace against three, timing each run. Work out items per minute and decide whether the extra iron was worth it.
Finish line: Your mega smeltery works, both races are timed, and you know items per minute for each.
Bonus challenge: Upgrade so one chest feeds all 3 furnaces automatically, with no hand-loading. Then race it again. New record?
You’ll need
- Iron for hoppers
- 3 furnaces
- Sand or cobblestone
- Coal
- A timer
You choose
- What you'll smelt (sand to glass, cobble to stone)
- Your iron budget for hoppers
- Factory name
Stuck?
- A hopper into the top feeds items, one into the side feeds fuel, and one below collects the results.
- Crouch while placing hoppers so they point into the furnace instead of opening it.
- Split the items evenly between the three furnaces for a fair race.
