Build a glowing meter that shows how full your treasure chest is.
Half full or nearly bursting? Build a glowing meter that tells you how rich you are without opening the lid.
- New skill Comparators reading containers
- Level 2 · Rise of the Kingdom
- Difficulty Beginner
- Mode Survival
- Time 30–40 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Build a treasure meter using a comparator that reads how full a chest is. Watch the redstone line light up as you fill the chest stack by stack, and test a formula to predict the glow. Label your meter so anyone can read it.
Finish line: Your treasure meter is labelled, your chart matches stacks to glow, and the formula is tested.
Bonus challenge: Build a second meter on a hopper (5 slots). Fill it stack by stack. Why does each stack light up so much more dust?
You’ll need
- A comparator
- Redstone
- A chest
- Lots of cobblestone
- Signs
You choose
- Which chest gets the meter
- Meter shape, straight or zigzag
- Your level names, empty to full
Stuck?
- Comparators need Nether quartz. No Nether yet? Build it in a Creative copy of your world.
- Place the comparator facing away from the chest so it reads the chest's contents.
- The glow jumps in steps, so a few extra items won't always light another dust.
