Measure a real tree by its shadow, then grow it life-size and giant-size.
Legend says a tree once grew here so huge its shadow covered the whole city. Time to grow it back.

What you’ll build
Head outside on a sunny day and use shadows to work out how tall a real tree is. Then grow a grove of real trees at true height, build one legendary giant three times bigger in every direction, give it a magical twist and check it still looks like a real tree.
Finish line: Your grove of real-size trees stands beside a giant legend tree three times bigger, magical twist and all.
Bonus challenge: Build a young, a grown and an ancient version of your legend tree side by side, like a time-lapse made of blocks.

- A tape measure
- Logs and leaves
- Glowing blocks for magic
- A family member for scale
You choose
- My 3 real tree types (oak, pine, palm…)
- My giant's magic twist (glowing, crystal, cherry blossom)
- Name of the legend tree
Stuck?
- Shadow sums off? Measure your shadow and the tree's shadow at the same moment; shadows change through the day.
- Giant looks odd? Triple everything, from trunk width to branch length and crown, not just the height.
- Worried the crowns will vanish? Leaves you place yourself don't decay.
