What you’ll build
Climbing scaffolding is so last mission. Place soul sand under a glass tube, fill it with water and ride a column of bubbles up to your island. Race the lift against the old climb, then add lantern height markers to call out as you zoom past.
Finish line: Your bubble lift rockets you up to your sky island faster than climbing ever did.
Bonus challenge: Build a second lift to another island and compare the speeds. Does a taller lift give a faster average speed, or the same?
You’ll need
- Soul sand
- Glass or stone
- Water buckets
- A timer
- Lanterns
You choose
- My lift's name
- Tube style: all glass for the view, or stone with windows
- My bet: the lift is ___ times faster than climbing
Stuck?
- Bubbles stop partway? Every block in the tube must be a water source, so refill any flowing water.
- No bubbles at all? Soul sand must sit right at the bottom of the water column.
- Leave a doorway with a block to step onto at the top so you can get out.
