What you’ll build
Dig a safe staircase test pit beside the ruins, writing down the depth every time the layers change. Then bury five era chests, oldest at the bottom and newest near the top, and fill the pit back in. A family member digs them up, puts them in order and dates each one from its depth.
Finish line: Every layer of your test pit is logged, and five buried eras have been dug up and dated.
Bonus challenge: Add a trick chest: a newer item buried deep, as if a cave mixed things up. Does your family member spot that it's out of place?

Stuck?
- Never dig straight down. A staircase lets you see lava or caves before you fall into them.
- Hit lava? Pour your water bucket on it to turn it into stone or obsidian.
- Deepslate starts around Y 8 and is solid below Y 0. It's slow to mine, so stop when you reach it.
