Build a 24-hour timeline wall and pin every suspect's alibi to it.

Every suspect has an alibi. Line them all up on one giant clock wall and watch someone's story fall apart.

  • New skill Making and displaying clocks
  • Level 5 · Mysteries & Monsters
  • Difficulty Intermediate
  • Mode Survival
  • Time 10–15 min
  • Ages 13+

What you’ll build

Crack the clock code by working out how long a game hour lasts in real seconds. Build a timeline wall a day long, mark sunrise, noon, sunset and midnight, and hang a clock in an item frame. Lay each suspect's alibi along the wall in their own colour and hunt for anyone in two places at once.

Finish line: Your timeline wall has a working clock and five colour-coded alibis, with one broken.

Bonus challenge: Stand at the wall from sunset to midnight with the stopwatch. Did your clock-code answer hold up for all 6 Mystery hours?

You’ll need

  • Gold ingots and redstone for a clock
  • An item frame
  • Wool in 5 colours
  • Glowing blocks
  • A stopwatch

You choose

  • Timeline style (hallway, tower or giant clock face)
  • A colour for each suspect
  • My bet for the alibi that breaks

Stuck?

  • A clock is 4 gold ingots around 1 redstone dust. It works underground but spins wildly in the Nether.
  • A full day lasts 20 real minutes, so each game hour is less than a minute. Work it out before you build.
  • Alibis overlapping in a muddle? Give each suspect their own row on the wall.

For grown-ups
