Build a 4-colour light-and-sound memory game and set a record chain.
Four colours. Four sounds. The pattern gets one longer every round. How far can your memory go?
- New skill Joining two buttons to one wire
- Level 6 · Inventor's Lab
- Difficulty Intermediate
- Mode Creative
- Time 40–50 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Build four big glowing colour pads, each with its own lamp and note block. Hide a Simon panel behind the wall that's wired into the same lines, so the leader can play a pattern for the player to copy. Every round adds one more flash.
Finish line: Your colour memory game lights and sings from either panel, and your longest chain is on record.
Bonus challenge: Play eyes closed with sounds only. Then play with the sound off. Which record is higher, and why do you think so?
You’ll need
- Stained glass (4 colours)
- Redstone lamps
- Note blocks
- Buttons
- Redstone dust
You choose
- My game's name
- My 4 sounds (block under each note block)
- My bet for my longest chain
Stuck?
- Keep the four wires apart: dust lines that touch join up and light the wrong pads.
- Silent pad? The note block needs an empty block of air above it.
- Tune each note block to a clearly different pitch so the sounds are easy to tell apart.
For grown-ups
