Build a sunrise alarm that plays your tune at dawn, with a snooze lever.
Build an alarm clock powered by the sun. When dawn breaks, the bedroom plays your tune… unless you hit snooze.
- New skill Locking a repeater as a snooze switch
- Level 6 · Inventor's Lab
- Difficulty Intermediate
- Mode Creative
- Time 45–60 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Build an alarm clock powered by the sun. A daylight sensor on the roof starts a line of note blocks that plays your own tune at dawn. Add a snooze lever that locks a repeater, then sleep through the night and see if it works.
Finish line: Your sunrise alarm plays your tune at dawn, and the snooze lever keeps it quiet when you want.
Bonus challenge: Build a bedtime version: a second sensor in night mode that plays a calm lullaby at dusk, with its own snooze.
You’ll need
- Daylight sensor
- Note blocks
- Repeaters
- Redstone dust
- A lever
- A bed
You choose
- My alarm tune (my own or an old public-domain one)
- Instruments I'll use
- My test victim
Stuck?
- Lock the snooze at night while the line is off. A locked repeater holds whatever state it's in.
- Silent note block? It needs an empty block of air above it.
- Snooze needs the lever's repeater pointing into the side of your main repeater.
