Upgrade your shelter into a stone fort with rooms, a gate and lights.
Your dirt hole kept you alive. Now build walls, a gate and a base worth defending for the next 90 days.

What you’ll build
Design a stone fort around your base, budget the blocks before you build, then raise walls, a roof or lit courtyard, and a proper gate. Fill it with a crafting corner, chest wall, smelting row and bedroom, add your own wow feature and give a family member the grand tour.
Finish line: Your stone fort has walls, rooms, a gate, lights everywhere and a wow feature you've shown off.
Bonus challenge: Hide a secret room in your fort that the tour guest never spots. Tell them only after the tour and watch their face.
You’ll need
- Several stacks of cobblestone
- Torches
- A door or gate
- A sign
- A family member for the tour

- Its 'wow' feature (tower, moat, lookout, garden)
- My fort's banner colours
Stuck?
- Count your wall blocks before you start. Running short halfway is the commonest fort problem.
- A door needs two free blocks of height. Fence gates work for wider openings.
- Big build? It's fine to split it across two play sessions.
