Wrap your Nether portal in a stone hub with walls, roof, light and storage.
Ghasts shriek. Fireballs fly. Your portal needs a fortress of its own before you dare go any further.

What you’ll build
Plan a hub around your Nether portal, then lay a stone floor, raise strong walls and add a roof. Light every corner, fit chests, a furnace, a crafting table and a coordinate sign, then watch your walls shrug off a ghast fireball.
Finish line: Your portal sits inside a lit, roofed, ghast-proof hub with storage and a coordinate sign.
Bonus challenge: Craft a respawn anchor (6 crying obsidian + 3 glowstone), charge it with glowstone and set your Nether respawn point in the hub.
You’ll need
- 4–5 stacks of cobblestone
- Torches
- Chests
- A crafting table

Stuck?
- Build with cobblestone, not netherrack. Ghast fireballs smash netherrack but cobblestone holds.
- Netherrack floors break easily too, so lay stone underneath where you'll walk.
- Portal switched off? Relight it with flint and steel.
