Mission 1 looks simple: tame a wolf and build it a little house. Underneath, it’s a lesson in trust, care and planning before you build.
What the mission builds
- Cause and effect. The wolf only trusts you after a few bones. Your teen sees that patience pays off.
- Planning before doing. The dog house gets drawn from above on the Plan & Log grid before a single block goes down.
- Area, quietly. Counting the floor is rows × columns. One block wider? Count again.
- Following steps in order. Including one that trips people up: a sitting wolf won’t follow you. Make it stand, walk into the dog house so it follows, then make it sit inside.
A conversation starter
“Why do you think the wolf only listened after you gave it bones?”
It’s a lovely way into a bigger idea: trust is earned, in games and in real life. If you have a pet, follow up with “What would our dog need every day if it lived in that house?”
Try it off-screen
Build the dog house again with LEGO, blocks or cardboard, using the grid plan from the Plan & Log page. Does the real version need the same number of pieces? Why or why not?
