Set a tree-chopping speed record, then plant a forest that regrows itself.
Five trees. One axe. A ticking clock. Then plant a forest that never runs out, so you can do it all again.
- New skill Sustainable wood harvesting
- Level 2 · Rise of the Kingdom
- Difficulty Beginner
- Mode Survival
- Time 35–45 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Pick a group of trees and race the clock to chop them all down, counting logs and saplings. Decide whether you got enough saplings back to keep a forest going. Then plan a forest layout and replant it, lit up so it can grow back safely.
Finish line: You've set a chopping record, worked out your averages and planted a lit forest that will grow back.
Bonus challenge: Rematch with a different tree type. Which wins on logs per minute, and which would you crown your kingdom's official wood?
You’ll need
- An axe
- Torches
- A timer
You choose
- My lumberjack name
- Tree type for the championship
- My forest's name
Stuck?
- Leaves drop saplings by chance, either when you break them or as they decay after the logs are gone.
- Saplings need light and enough space above them to grow, so leave gaps between them.
- Birch trees are the most predictable; big oaks can grow branches that are hard to count.
For grown-ups
