Ring your kingdom with a castle wall on a block budget. Don't run out!
The kingdom is wide open and the zombies know it. A giant wall goes up today, and every block counts.
- New skill Planning a big build to a budget
- Level 2 · Rise of the Kingdom
- Difficulty Beginner
- Mode Survival
- Time 35–45 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Stand on each corner of your future wall and log its coordinates. Use a builder's formula to work out exactly how many blocks the wall will need, then raid your chests to see if you can afford it. Race the sun to lay the first ring, raise one side to full height and see if you beat your budget.
Finish line: The first ring of your castle wall is down, one side stands tall, and you know if you beat your budget.
Bonus challenge: Price one extra layer of height. Worth it, or would you spend those blocks on something sneakier?
You’ll need
- Lots of cobblestone or wall blocks
- A pickaxe
- A calculator
You choose
- What the wall protects
- Wall block (one you can really gather)
- Wall height (3, 4 or 5 blocks)
Stuck?
- Count both corner blocks: a side's length is the coordinate difference plus 1.
- Watch the negatives. From −10 to 15 is a gap of 25, not 5.
- Short on blocks? Cobblestone is the quickest to mine, or shrink the wall or build it lower.
