Build a grand library with a hidden room and write its first two books.
Every kingdom has a library. Yours hides a secret room, and in it, the one book nobody is allowed to read.

What you’ll build
Plan a grand library with a hidden room tucked behind the shelves. Craft books and bookshelves, build and light the library, then add a secret hatch down to the hidden room. Write and sign two books: a royal history for all to read and a forbidden book hidden below.
Finish line: Your library hides a secret room, and two signed books sit in their places.
Bonus challenge: Swap the hatch for a sticky-piston bookshelf door, or write a library catalogue that leaves the Forbidden Book off the list. Only you know it exists.
You’ll need
- Sugar cane
- Leather
- Planks
- A feather and ink sac
- A trapdoor and ladders
- A lectern
You choose
- Library name and style
- Title of the Royal History (Book 1)
- The Forbidden Book's secret topic (Book 2)
Stuck?
- Each bookshelf takes 6 planks and 3 books, and each book needs 3 paper and 1 leather.
- Ladders need a solid block behind them, so place them against a wall of the shaft.
- Once you sign a Book and Quill it's locked, so reread it first.
