Dig a wild lake with an island hideout, then find out how big it really is.
Out in the middle of a wild lake sits an island. On it: your hideout. The only way across is your secret.
- New skill Shaping a natural lake and island
- Level 3 · Dream City
- Difficulty Beginner
- Mode Creative
- Time 35–45 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Guess the area of a curvy lake, then dig it with wiggly shores and a bottom that gets deeper towards the middle. Raise an island hideout, hide a secret crossing, make it all look wild, then estimate and count the lake's real area and challenge someone to reach your hideout.
Finish line: Your wild lake hides an island hideout and a secret crossing, with its area estimated and then counted.
Bonus challenge: Dig a smaller second pond. Predict its area using your first lake as a guide, then count to check. How close can you get?
You’ll need
- Water buckets
- Sand
- Sugar cane and rocks
- Stepping-stone blocks
You choose
- Lake name
- Secret crossing (hidden stepping stones, tunnel, dock)
- What's in the hideout
Stuck?
- Shore looks too neat? Keep every straight edge to 5 blocks or less.
- Stepping stones too obvious? Set them just under the surface so they're hidden but still walkable.
- Sugar cane won't plant? It must go on sand, dirt or grass right next to water.
For grown-ups
