Rig one daylight sensor to switch on a whole street of lamps at nightfall.
Every night your City sinks into darkness. Tonight, one tiny sensor wakes up a whole street of lamps at once.
- New skill Wiring daylight sensors, dust and repeaters
- Level 3 · Dream City
- Difficulty Beginner
- Mode Creative
- Time 35–45 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Draw a secret wiring map, then build lamp posts along a street and link them with hidden redstone dust and repeaters. Flip one daylight sensor to night mode so the whole street wakes up when the sun goes down, then patrol after dark and fix the gloomiest spot.
Finish line: One daylight sensor wakes a whole street of lamps at nightfall, and your parts showdown has a winner.
Bonus challenge: Branch a side street off the same wire. Does the signal reach the last lamp, or does it need one more repeater?
You’ll need
- Redstone lamps
- A daylight sensor
- Redstone dust
- Repeaters
- Lamp post blocks
You choose
- Lamp post style
- Spacing: a lamp every ___ blocks
- Secret wiring under the street, or show-off wiring on top
Stuck?
- Lamps dark partway along? The signal fades after 15 blocks of dust, so add a repeater before it runs out.
- Lamps on in daytime? Tap the daylight sensor to switch it to night mode.
- Sensor doing nothing? It needs open sky directly above it.
