What you’ll build
What beats a floating island? One with a waterfall. Test how far water flows, dig a sky lake and cut a channel to the edge. Watch it pour all the way to a rock pool below, decorate the falls, then swim back up the waterfall.
Finish line: Your sky lake spills into a waterfall that pours all the way down to a pool you can swim up from.
Bonus challenge: Hide a secret cave behind the bottom pool with a chest inside. Leave a riddle on a sign at the top. Can anyone find the way in?
You’ll need
- Water buckets
- Stone for a channel
- A timer
- Vines, moss and lanterns

- Where it spills (front, side or a secret back edge)
- My bet: water runs ___ blocks on flat ground
Stuck?
- Channel drying up? Water only flows about 7 blocks on flat ground, so drop the channel down a step.
- Swimming up the falls? Step into the falling water and hold jump.
- Lake not filling? Pour water in each corner so every block becomes a source.
