Carve jack o'lanterns and light a forest path that keeps monsters off.
The forest trail swallows anyone who walks it at night. Light it with grinning pumpkins before midnight.

What you’ll build
Gather pumpkins, carve spooky faces with shears and turn them into glowing jack o'lanterns. Line a forest path with them, spaced close on one half and far apart on the other, then walk it at night to see which half keeps the monsters away. Crown the winning spacing and finish with a pumpkin arch.
Finish line: Your pumpkin path glows through the forest, lit at the spacing that won the showdown.
Bonus challenge: Build a giant 5 × 5 pumpkin face out of orange blocks with glowing eyes at the path's entrance. How many blocks did it take?
You’ll need

- Shears

- Where my jack o'lanterns stare (path or woods)
Stuck?
- Shears are 2 iron ingots placed diagonally. Use them on a pumpkin to carve a face.
- A jack o'lantern is a carved pumpkin with a torch below it on the crafting grid.
- Monsters spawn only in very dark spots. Mobs on the path may have walked in from the dark woods nearby.
