Build a decoy vault with two different alarms, then let the thief try.

Thieves can't resist a second page. Build a fake vault, plant a decoy and wire it to scream when touched.

  • New skill Wiring a tripwire or pressure plate alarm
  • Level 5 · Mysteries & Monsters
  • Difficulty Intermediate
  • Mode Survival
  • Time 10–15 min

What you’ll build

Build a small decoy vault with a fake prize in a chest and guard it with two different alarms, such as a tripwire and a sculk sensor. Hide at your watch spot while the thief gets three tries to sneak in silently. After each try, move or change an alarm and work out your catch rate.

Finish line: Your decoy vault has two working alarms, and you know how often you caught the thief.

Bonus challenge: Add a lever at your watch spot that arms and disarms the whole trap. Then swap roles: can YOU beat your own trap?

You’ll need

  • Tripwire or pressure plates
  • Redstone dust
  • A note block or bell
  • A sculk sensor (optional)
  • A family member as the thief

You choose

  • My decoy item's name
  • My alarm sound (note block tune or bell)
  • My hidden watch spot

Stuck?

  • A tripwire needs two hooks facing each other with string between them. Step on the string to test it.
  • Sneaking doesn't set off a sculk sensor, so your second alarm can't rely on sound alone.
  • Alarm silent? Check the redstone dust runs from the trigger all the way to the note block or bell.
