Build a 20-block hallway with a lever at each end flipping the same lights.
Real hallways have a light you can flip from either end. Your Lab doesn't… yet. Crack the secret.
- New skill Building an XOR gate with comparators
- Level 6 · Inventor's Lab
- Difficulty Intermediate
- Mode Creative
- Time 45–60 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Build a long hallway with a lever at each end, then discover why the obvious wiring doesn't work. Crack it with two comparators in subtract mode, so either lever flips the lights. Fill in a score sheet and spot the rule behind it.
Finish line: Your hallway lights flip from either end, and your score sheet shows the rule for all four combinations.
Bonus challenge: Add a third lever halfway down the hallway. Can you make all three flip the light? Hint: feed your first XOR's output into a second XOR with lever C.
You’ll need
- Levers
- Comparators
- Repeaters
- Redstone dust
- Redstone lamps
You choose
- Hallway theme (spooky, space, neon)
- Lamp pattern on the ceiling
- My bet: combos that turn the light on
Stuck?
- Tap each comparator until its front light is on: that's subtract mode.
- Feed every lever through a repeater, so both signals are full strength and cancel properly.
- Wires touching where they shouldn't? Keep the two comparator lines apart until they join.
