Build a safe Nether highway to a far-off spot and race the Overworld.
A village 800 blocks away. Walking there takes forever. Through the Nether? Only 100. Build the express.

What you’ll build
Choose a far-off destination and divide its coordinates by eight to find your Nether target. Build a walled, lit highway with signs and a rest stop, light a new portal at the end, then race the express against the long walk above.
Finish line: Your Nether highway is built, your exit portal is linked and you've got a race result to prove it's faster.
Bonus challenge: Add a lane of ice (blue ice if you can find it) and race in a boat. How much faster is the boat lane than sprinting?

- Obsidian for a second portal
- Flint and steel
- Stacks of cobblestone
- Torches
- Signs

Stuck?
- Divide only X and Z by 8. Your Y level doesn't need changing.
- Exit portal leading back to the old one? Pick a destination much further away so they don't link.
- Wall the highway and light it, so ghasts and mobs can't knock you into lava.
