Raid a soul sand valley, time the drag, then build a bubble lift.
Blue fire, drifting ghasts and sand that drags at your boots. The Wither's altar needs it, so grab it fast.

What you’ll build
Scout a soul sand valley with your teammate, dig the blocks the Wither's altar needs and time how much the sand slows you down. Get out fast, stash your haul, then build a bubble lift that shoots you up a glass tube to a lookout deck.
Finish line: Your altar chest is full of soul sand, your sprint test is timed and your bubble lift works.
Bonus challenge: Build a second tube with magma at the bottom for a fast drop down. Time the up trip and the down trip. Which is quicker?
You’ll need
- A shovel
- A bow

Stuck?
- Build the bubble lift in the Overworld. Water can't be placed in the Nether.
- Every block of the lift needs a water source, not flowing water, all the way up.
- Watch the valley edge for ghasts and skeletons before stepping in.
