Run a tournament of beacon powers, measure the range and crown a champion.
Speed. Haste. Jump. Strength. Your beacon grants superpowers. But which one is the true champion?
- New skill Choosing and switching beacon powers
- Level 9 · Ultimate Survival
- Difficulty Advanced
- Mode Survival
- Time 40–60 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Run a fair tournament of beacon powers, timing mining with and without Haste and racing a track with and without Speed. Measure how far the beacon's reach goes, compare your averages and crown a champion power.
Finish line: Your tournament sheet is complete, the beacon's range is measured and your champion power is locked in.
Bonus challenge: Mark your beacon's range square on the ground with a line of lanterns. Which builds are inside the power zone?
You’ll need
- A stopwatch
- Spare ingots, emeralds or diamonds
- Stone to mine
- A family member to explain to
You choose
- My tournament's name
- My bet for the champion power
- My third event (jump course, building race…)
Stuck?
- Switching powers costs another payment, so plan your rounds before you start.
- Run each round several times and average them. One lucky run isn't a fair result.
- Range test: wait at each stop for a few seconds, because the power only refreshes every so often.
For grown-ups
