What you’ll build
Design giant digits on squared paper and bet on how many blocks they'll take. Build a stepped plinth at the heart of the celebration ground, raise a huge 1000 on it with lamps hidden inside, carve a secret chamber in the plinth, then count every block and check your bet.
Finish line: A giant 1000 towers over the celebration ground, lamps waiting inside and a secret chamber below.
Bonus challenge: The Legend's puzzle: redesign the 1000 to use EXACTLY 1,000 blocks. Change the depth, the holes or the widths. Can you hit it perfectly?
You’ll need
- Building blocks
- Redstone lamps
- Plinth blocks
- A sign
- Squared paper
- A calculator

- Words for the plaque's first line
Stuck?
- Build each digit from your squared-paper plan, one layer at a time.
- Fit the lamps as you build. They're much harder to add once the digits are solid.
- Count blocks layer by layer and add them up. It's faster than counting the whole thing.
