Build a portal at your target spot and score how close you land.
Build a doorway at your secret Nether spot. Will it drop you at your landmark… or somewhere very wrong?
- New skill Building to exact coordinates
- Level 2 · Rise of the Kingdom
- Difficulty Beginner
- Mode Survival
- Time 35–45 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Pack obsidian and a flint and steel, then head into the Nether to find your target coordinates. Make a safe spot, build and light a new portal, and step through to see where you pop out. Score your landing and prove the shortcut works both ways.
Finish line: Your shortcut portal works both ways, and you've scored how close you landed to the target.
Bonus challenge: Build a secret portal room around the new Overworld portal, with a sign showing both sets of coordinates.
You’ll need
- At least 10 obsidian
- A flint and steel
- A pickaxe
- Building blocks
- Your go-bag
You choose
- Dig into netherrack or build a platform
- My frame style (with or without corners)
- How I'll mark my portal
Stuck?
- Check your coordinates every 20 blocks so you don't drift off course.
- Came out at an old portal? It was closer. Move the new portal nearer the exact target.
- Obsidian can only be mined with a diamond pickaxe or better.
