Build a speed tunnel between two Nether portals on a budget, then race it.
Why walk 800 blocks when you can zoom 100? Build a glowing express tunnel and smash the speed record.

What you’ll build
Plan a speed tunnel between your two Nether portals and set a block budget. Dig or bridge your express route in your own style, counting every block and adding distance signs. Then time trials end to end and compare the trip with the long way round.
Finish line: Your Nether express links both portals, and you know its record time and real block cost.
Bonus challenge: Build a halfway station with a chest, a crafting table and distance signs. Then dare a family member to beat your sprint record.

Stuck?
- Lava can pour in when you break netherrack. Block it off with cobblestone straight away.
- Cobblestone stands up to ghast fireballs much better than netherrack, so use it for walls and bridges.
- Sprinting burns hunger fast, so bring plenty of food.
