Design the lost city, build a 1:5 mini model, then one landmark full size.
Nobody has seen the lost city for 1,000 years. Build all of it, small enough to stand over like a giant.
- New skill Building a scale model
- Level 5 · Mysteries & Monsters
- Difficulty Intermediate
- Mode Survival
- Time 60 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Design the explorer's lost city on paper, with walls, a gate, a market, a temple and homes. Build it as a mini model at your base, every size divided by five. Then pick one landmark and build it full size near the ruins, so you can stand like a giant over the city, then walk inside the real thing.
Finish line: Your mini lost city sits at HQ, and one of its landmarks stands full size near the ruins.
Bonus challenge: Build a 1:10 version of the same landmark too. How many times smaller is its floor than the full-size one?
You’ll need
- Terracotta
- Mud bricks
- Slabs
- Stairs
- A ruler for your plan
You choose
- The lost city's name
- Who lived there
- My full-size landmark
Stuck?
- Sizes not matching? Divide every real size by 5 for the model. A 40-block wall becomes 8 blocks.
- Slabs and stairs make great tiny roofs and steps when a full block is too big for the model.
- Running short of blocks in Survival? Keep the city small. Even a simple plan shows the idea.
