Build a self-scoring archery range with a target block and a lamp runway.

Hit the bullseye and the runway lights up to the very end. Miss and… well, everyone sees that too.

What you’ll build

Set a target block at the far end of a range and run a line of lamps back towards the shooter. The closer an arrow lands to the centre, the further the lights reach, so the range scores itself. Shoot from three distances and hold a family shoot-out.

Finish line: Your archery range scores every shot with lights, and the shoot-out has a winner with the highest total.

Bonus challenge: Build a moving target: a sticky piston slides a second target block in and out. Can you hit it while it moves?

You’ll need

  • Target block
  • Redstone lamps
  • Redstone dust
  • A bow
  • Banners and signs

You choose

  • My range's name
  • My range theme (castle, Wild West, space)
  • My bet: best score from 30 blocks

Stuck?

  • Lamps only stay lit for a moment, so call each score fast or have a friend watch.
  • Nothing lights? Dust must sit on top of every lamp, starting right beside the target.
  • Shoot every arrow from the marked lines, so each round's scores are fair.
