Build a Greek hillside theatre and test how far the sound really carries.
Your time machine lands on a hillside of stone seats. On the stage, someone whispers… can the top row hear?
- New skill Building rising rows of curved seats
- Level 7 · Time Travellers
- Difficulty Intermediate
- Mode Creative
- Time 45–60 min
- Ages 13+
What you’ll build
Build a Greek hillside theatre with a round stage and curved rows of seats rising up the slope, plus a stage building behind. Test how far a note block's sound carries row by row, then put on a short masked play for opening night.
Finish line: Your hillside theatre has rising rows, a stage building, a sound score sheet and an opening-night play.
Bonus challenge: Run the sound showdown again on flat ground with no seats. Does the note fade at the same distance? What does that tell you about Minecraft sound?
You’ll need
- Stone blocks
- Slabs or stairs for seats
- A note block
- A helper or a redstone clock
You choose
- My theatre's name
- Opening night: comedy or tragedy?
- My bet: the last row where the note is still clear
Stuck?
- Note block silent? It needs an empty space directly above it to play.
- Rows not curving neatly? Mark the radius with a line of blocks from the stage centre for each row.
- Sound in the game just fades with distance, so your test shows range, not real echoes.
