The chieftain throws a feast. Long tables, a roaring fire and a giant Viking board game. Loser does dishes.

What you’ll build
Build a great Viking hall with a long fire, long tables and a carved high seat, then lay out a feast. Set a giant board game into the floor with block pieces and challenge a family rival to a match of hnefatafl.
Finish line: Your great hall has a feast laid out, a giant hnefatafl board and a match result.
Bonus challenge: Play a rematch on the other side. Then rewrite one rule to make the game fairer. Does your new rule work?

- Wood planks and logs
- Campfires

- Two block colours for pieces
- A family rival

- My hall's name and the high seat's design
- My feast menu
- My side: attackers or defenders
Stuck?
- Rules getting confusing? Write the basics on a sign by the board before you start.
- Pieces hard to tell apart? Pick two very different colours, and a special block for the king.
- Food won't stay on tables? Use item frames on the table tops, or put plates of food in chests.
