What you’ll build
Build a cosy fishing hut on stilts with a labelled barrel for every kind of catch. Predict what the sea will give you, fish and tally every catch by hand, then challenge a family member to a derby.
Finish line: Your stilt hut stands over the water, every catch is sorted and the derby has a winner.
Bonus challenge: Time 10 catches in sunshine and 10 in the rain. Do the bites really come faster in a storm?

- 2 fishing rods
- Barrels
- Item frames
- Logs for stilts
- A lantern
- A family member

Stuck?
- Barrels hard to tell apart? Put an item frame on each with an example catch inside as a label.
- Slow bites? Fish in open water; rain can speed things up.
- Reel in as soon as the bobber dips to catch it.
