What you’ll build
Become the explorer and write five journal pages in their voice, each ending with a clue to the next hiding spot. Hide them around the ruins in chests and on lecterns, then send a family member on the trail. Afterwards, work out how short each leg would be in a straight line.
Finish line: Five journal pages in the explorer's voice have been hidden and found, with a trail time to beat.
Bonus challenge: Sneak in a sixth, fake page written by a rival who wants the treasure. Does your tracker spot the lie, and how?
You’ll need
- 5 books and quills
- Lecterns or chests
- A family member to follow the trail
- A timer

- The explorer's name
- The explorer's mood: brave, scared, or secretive?
- The surprise on page 5
Stuck?
- A book and quill needs a book, an ink sac and a feather. Books need paper and leather.
- Write clues, not coordinates. Test each one by asking if you could find the spot from it alone.
- Show Coordinates is a world setting. Turn it on so you can note each hiding spot's X and Z.
